The DL380p boasts several new technologies that enhance capacity and performance for its computing and storage capabilities. HP SmartMemory handles errors, improves workload balancing, and handles power efficiency. HP SmartDrive uses new-style tray carriers that can only fit in SmartDrive-supported drives because of their many new capabilities. These carriers each have an LED that displays diagnostic information and tells the administrator which drive not to hot-swap, thus avoiding server recovery failures. The Intel® Xeon® processor E5-2600 that comes standard with the DL380p boasts high-performing memory, connectivity and bandwidth capabilities for even the most demanding workloads.
Flexible and Simple Management
The DL380p Gen8 uses the Integrated Lifecycle Automation to manage its systems via simple provisioning, proactive monitoring and alerting, and automated system software maintenance. The FlexibleLOM feature allows you to initially configure the server with standard Gigabit Ethernet ports and later upgrade to 10 GBe, converged networking, or other network connectivity methods. The DL380p Gen8 can handle demanding I/O requests, and its flexible configuration capabilities mean it can be a great addition to both a small shop and a larger environment.
Smart Design
The DL380p Gen 8 boasts several design changes that were inspired by customer feedback. Clear baffles over the processors and other components allow for easy access and viewing of those parts during replacement and upgrades. Risers lift the system board and allow for hassle-free PCI card expansion. Tool-less access to components makes replacing and servicing the server a snap. These innovations, while small, make a huge difference in day-to-day ease of operation and maintenance.
