Warning: SP not present in the system
This error code can occur in the following Sun servers:

Many customers who have bought the above servers noticed that, even when the server is brand new, the error code appears. The issue prevents the customer from obtaining access to the ilom login prompt. This results in the customer being unable to save any variables. Described below is an actual scenario a customer faced after receiving a new T4 server one day:
“When powered on, the fault light comes on, but this is not a big deal because you can go in through the serial port to see the faults and clear them. The issue is there doesn’t seem to be an SP prompt anywhere. The machine will boot up to the OK prompt, but when I try to switch to the SP prompt (->) by typing “#.” at the OK prompt, you will get this:

WARNING: SP not present in the system”
This error code is a very simple one to fix. Even in the brand new servers, the service processor can “pop” out during shipment of the machine. This is especially common with the smaller U chassis. This could occur because the flex in the chassis lacks a locking tab intended to hold the SP in place. In occasional occurrences, sealed NIB systems have even had its SP come loose inside the system after movement. You will need to re-seat or re-install the service processor to fix this error.
Generally speaking, it is always a good idea to open the top cover of the server and do a brief inspection after the system has been racked or moved around. This is to ensure there are no loose parts inside before power is applied to the system. Prime examples of this include the service processors, PCI fillers, and memory fillers.
