Five Cristo Rey Interns Join the CentricsIT Team
CentricsIT, an Atlanta-based IT asset disposition company, is giving back by sponsoring five new Cristo Rey students for the 2024-2025 school year. This is the second year CentricsIT has participated in the program.
Cristo Rey Atlanta Jesuit High School is a private Catholic school that commits to serving young people of limited economic means, of any faith or creed, to become men and women for and with others. Its approach of a college prep program and work study experience prepares its students for college and beyond. Its curriculum relies heavily on work study, scheduling one day a week for students to intern at a partner company, learning valuable skills and work-readiness.
A group representing CentricsIT participated in draft day on Friday, August 16, an event marked by marching bands, confetti cannons, and delegates representing some of Atlanta’s finest companies. Students do not know where they will be posted before signing day and are matched with their companies in front of the school-wide assembly during employer presentations.
This year, Cristo Rey has 481 students enrolled, supported by 139 Corporate Work Study Partners. It still celebrates a 100% college acceptance rate, and its alumni have earned $102 million in merit-based scholarships. Its work study partners include organizations across many fields—from utilities, to non-profits, to healthcare, to publicly traded corporations. These internships help students have a better understanding of the jobs and fields available, and the Cristo Rey team ensures that they have the tools they need to get there.
CentricsIT has committed to five students this year, including two freshman, a sophomore, a junior, and a senior. These students will be working with accounting, logistics, IT, and marketing, learning valuable skills and experiencing what it is like to work in an office setting.
