If your Cisco router is failing to boot and the message: loadprog: error appears during ELF program load, the IOS is most likely not the correct system for that router or has become corrupted. Find the compact flash from which your system boots and reformat it. After you reformat the flash card, create a new image on it, and you should be free of any startup issues.
